Terms of use
By creating an account or using Badminton Draft, you agree to the following terms.
- Badminton Draft is provided free of charge, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or continuity.
- You must be at least 15 years old to create an account.
- Predictions and the Fantasy Manager are free games with no stakes and no winnings: no prize is awarded, and Fantasy Manager money is fictional.
- You agree not to use the platform for any illegal or harmful activity.
- You agree not to use offensive, discriminatory, or impersonating language in your username or league names.
- The publisher may suspend or delete accounts or leagues that violate these terms.
- The design, code, and branding of Badminton Draft belong to its publisher. These terms are governed by the laws of France.
Privacy policy
This policy states which personal data Badminton Draft processes, why, for how long, and who can access it. The data controller is the publisher of the site, reachable at contact@badmintondraft.fr.
Data processed
- Your account: email address, password (Supabase keeps only an encrypted hash, never the password itself), username, language of account emails (that of the page at sign-up), sign-up, sign-in and last activity dates, date of an inactivity warning, version of the terms of use accepted at sign-up and time of that acceptance.
- Your games: predictions, Fantasy Manager teams and transactions, leagues created or joined, badges earned, favorite players.
- Your messages: the content of feedback sent from your settings, and the rating of a review.
- Your account’s security: the browser and operating system of each sign-in, shown in your settings so you can spot access you don’t recognize, and the date of rate-limited actions (password change, account deletion). Your IP address is not kept in this history; Supabase keeps it with your session for as long as the session lasts.
No payment data and no sensitive data is collected.
Why, and on what legal basis
- Running the service you request by creating an account — games, leaderboards, leagues, confirmation and password-reset emails: performance of these terms of use (GDPR article 6.1.b).
- Securing accounts, limiting abuse, and fixing site errors: the publisher’s legitimate interest (article 6.1.f).
- Measuring traffic and site speed, without cookies or lasting identifiers: the publisher’s legitimate interest (article 6.1.f).
How long
- Your account and game data is kept for as long as the account exists, and erased as soon as it is deleted. An account left unused for three years is deleted: an email warns you two months beforehand, and signing in is enough to keep it. An account whose email address was never confirmed is deleted after three years without a warning.
- Erased data may remain for up to 90 days in the encrypted database backups, which are destroyed after that.
- Error reports are kept for 30 days.
- Messages sent to the contact address, and our replies, are kept for three years after the last exchange, then deleted.
- Traffic measurement recognizes a visit by a fingerprint of the request that is reset every day: it can neither follow you from one day to the next nor identify you.
Who can access it
Your data is never sold, rented, or used for advertising. Only the publisher has access to it, along with the technical providers that process it on the publisher’s behalf:
- Supabase (Supabase Pte. Ltd., Singapore) — database and authentication, hosted in Paris.
- Vercel (Vercel Inc., United States) — website hosting, traffic measurement (Vercel Analytics) and speed measurement (Speed Insights).
- Infomaniak (Infomaniak Network SA, Switzerland) — sending sign-up confirmation and password-reset emails, and hosting the contact address mailbox.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., United States) — reporting site errors, stored in the European Union. A report contains the error trace, the page address without its parameters, and the browser: not your account, your IP address, or the content of your forms.
- GitHub (GitHub, Inc., United States) — storing the database backups, encrypted before upload: GitHub cannot read their content.
Vercel, Sentry, and GitHub participate in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework; Supabase covers its transfers with the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses; Switzerland benefits from an adequacy decision.
Images loaded from their source
Some images are not served by Badminton Draft: your browser loads them directly from the server that publishes them, which receives your IP address and the technical details of the request (browser, language) in the process — nothing from your account. These third parties are not our providers: each processes this data under its own responsibility, according to its own privacy policy. Displaying an image from its source rather than copying it rests on the publisher’s legitimate interest (article 6.1.f). Flags and all other images are served by Badminton Draft itself.
- Player portraits and tournament logos: the Badminton World Federation (Malaysia), delivered through Cloudflare’s network (Cloudflare, Inc., United States).
- Freely licensed photos and article thumbnails on a player’s page: the Wikimedia Foundation (United States).
- Video thumbnails in the news feed: YouTube (Google LLC, United States).
Your username is public: it appears on leaderboards and in leagues. Choose one that reveals nothing you want to keep private; you can change it at any time in your settings.
Cookies and local storage
Badminton Draft sets no advertising or analytics cookies, which is why there is no consent banner. The only ones used are those the site cannot work without: Supabase session cookies, to keep you signed in, a cookie that remembers your language, and the browser’s local storage for the light or dark theme and whether you have seen the Fantasy Manager guide.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to the processing of, and port your data.
You delete your account yourself, from your settings (“Delete account”): deletion is immediate and erases all the data listed above.
For any other request — a copy of your data, an objection, a question — write to contact@badmintondraft.fr: you will get an answer within one month.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
Players
Badminton Draft publishes profiles of professional players who have never dealt with the site: their data is collected indirectly, from public sources (GDPR Article 14). Informing each of them individually would take a disproportionate effort; this section informs them publicly.
- The data: name, nationality, date and place of birth, height, playing hand, portrait, results and rankings, biography.
- The sources: official BWF data (the BWF Extranet and its website) for name, nationality, portrait, results and rankings; Wikidata for date and place of birth, height and playing hand; Wikipedia for the biography; Wikimedia Commons for a freely licensed photo when there is no official portrait.
- Purpose and legal basis: sports information about the professional circuit, and the prediction and Fantasy Manager games built on it, on the basis of the publisher’s legitimate interest in reporting on public competitions (GDPR Article 6.1.f).
- Minors: the profile of a player under 18 shows only their age, neither their exact date of birth nor their place of birth.
- Retention: for as long as the site exists, since results and rankings make up the history of the circuit. Data removed from its source is not deleted here automatically: just let us know.
A player, or their representative, may object to the processing of their data at any time (GDPR Article 21), and request access, rectification or erasure, by writing to contact@badmintondraft.fr: they will receive a reply within one month. Their date and place of birth, height, playing hand, photos and biography are then removed, and do not come back. Their name, nationality, results and rankings, which are the public record of the competitions, remain published; any error in them is corrected.
Content sources & attribution
Badminton Draft shows third-party content; each item is credited and links back to its source.
Results, draws, rankings and the tournament calendar come from official BWF sources. Badminton Draft is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Badminton World Federation.
“BWF”, “HSBC BWF World Tour”, “HSBC Race to Finals” and tournament names are trademarks of their owners, mentioned to refer to the competitions.
Player portraits are those published by the BWF: they are displayed from its server, never copied to ours. Where there is no official portrait, a player’s page may show a photo from Wikimedia Commons, published under a free license: its author and license are written under the photo, with a link to its page.
Player biographies reuse the summary of their Wikipedia article, published under the CC BY-SA license, with a link to the article.
The news feed gathers headlines from two public feeds: Google News and the BWF TV YouTube channel. Each item shows its publisher, links back to the original page, and is limited to a headline and the short excerpt the feed itself distributes — never the body of an article.
Thumbnails are linked from the publisher’s own server, never copied to ours: the publisher keeps control of its images and can withdraw them at any time.
Publishers and rights holders: to have content removed — an article, an image, a portrait — write to contact@badmintondraft.fr and it will be taken down.
